The FROGS (friendly rivalry often generates success) took their annual formal to Edgewood Country Club in Churchill for yet another successful event. On July 24 more than 300 guests and members attended the gala celebration for an evening of cocktails, dinner, dancing and mixing.
This was the last formal with Greg Morris as president. Morris and his wife, Thelma, and everyone’s favorite line dancer Thelma Lovette (Greg’s mom-in-law and Thelma’s mother) relocated to Arizona right after the FROG weekend. Everyone was happy for their somewhat sudden move but they will be missed as a part of the social fabric of Pittsburgh.

Darryl Robinson is the new FROG president and along with his FROG brothers welcomed Richard Bynum, Joe Thomas and Eustace Uku into the pond as the newest FROGS.
DJ Mac Daddy and the House of Soul provided the soundtrack for the evening and everyone enjoyed the ambiance of Edgewood Country Club. The weekend concluded with the signature picnic at the Westinghouse Lodge on Greensburg Pike and day at Mountaineer Casino and racetrack.
The group accomplished their mission, which is to have fun. Thomas Motley served as event chair.
“Once a FROG you’re always a FROG” said former president Dr. Frank Sessoms. The FROGS is a gentlemen only social organization that has been together since 1910, making them the oldest African-American men’s social group in the country.
The FROGS are looking forward to their centennial celebration in 2010.
