The New Hazlett Theater presents the Charles Wallace Trio at 11 p.m. at Allegheny Square East, North Side. Charles Wallace is a Pittsburgh based trio performing both original material and jazz standards in a collaborative improvisational context. A love of jazz music and many years of friendship make a Charles Wallace performance a unique experience. The trio is comprised of Jay Matula on drums, Justin Brown on bass and Ethan Winograd on guitar. Doors will open at 10:30 p.m. and the cost is $5 at the door. The Members of FLM of Haiti presents the “A Gift of Hope: From the Hills of Pittsburgh to the Mountains of Haiti” event at 11:30 a.m. at the Mt. Washington home of Donald Kortland and Anna P. Singer, 115 Grandview Ave., Mt. Washington. This event is to celebrate the opening of the House of David Health Clinic in Haiti. There will be performances by Kathy Bynum, Etta Cox and Gema Stemley. Open auditions
The Pittsburgh Playwrights Theatre Company presents Open Auditions for its 2009-2010 Season from 12-6 p.m. at 542 Penn Ave., Cultural District. The theater company will hold open auditions for characters for their performances for the upcoming season. Actors interested in auditioning should prepare two contrasting contemporary monologues, though they may only be asked to perform one. Actors should also bring a resume and headshot if available. They are always interested in meeting new actors, so all types are encouraged to audition. The auditions are for individuals ages 15 and up only. Callbacks will be Aug. 31. Part Three
The Carnegie Museum of Art presents “Documenting Our Past: The Teenie Harris Archive Project, Part Three” from 10 a.m.-5 p.m. at 4400 Forbes Ave., Oakland. This features photographs selected by a guest curator, Charles A. “Little Teenie” Harris, the oldest son of “Teenie” Harris. Harris has selected images by his father that have never before been viewed by the public, in addition to other well-known favorites. The 184 photographs have been divided into the following themes: landmarks, celebrities, children, family, occupations, politics, protests, social, sports, weddings and religious events. In addition to the images selected, the exhibition features the 50 winning photographs from the “One Shot ‘Teenie’ Harris Photo Contest.” The exhibit will run to Jan. 31, 2010.
