Gospel extravaganza
The Westmoreland Cultural Trust and Freedom Baptist Church presents a Gospel Extravaganza Benefit at the Palace Theatre, 21 W. Otterman St., Greensburg. This is a spirit-filled evening of traditional gospel music features an all-star ministry of gifted local and regional talent. Choirs, ensembles, soloists and mimes will perform, including the Trebletones of Pittsburgh. Patricia Jennings of the Pittsburgh Symphony Orchestra will host the event. Sweetwater Center for the Arts and Dwayne Dolphin presents the Music Series for Mauvno 2009 from 7-9 p.m. at 200 Broad St., Sewickley. Dwayne Dolphin will host a concert series presenting talented musicians who will show you the wonders and variety of African influenced music. The Alumni Theater Company presents The “I Am Artist” performance series at 7 p.m. at the Kelly-Strayhorn Theater, 5941 Penn Ave., East Liberty. “I Am Artist” is a new youth based series. “Bad Seeds” is about a group that finds a way to make a generate look great. The Carnegie Museum of Art presents “Documenting Our Past: The Teenie Harris Archive Project, Part Three” from 10 a.m.-5 p.m. at 4400 Forbes Ave., Oakland. This features photographs selected by a guest curator, Charles A. “Little Teenie” Harris, the oldest son of “Teenie” Harris. Harris has selected images by his father that have never before been viewed by the public, in addition to other well-known favorites.
