Forum for women

OCT. 23—The Center for Women’s Entrepreneurship at Chatham University will host the 4th Annual Think Big Forum for Women from 7:30-11:30 a.m. at Chatham University, Woodland Rd., Shadyside. This year’s event will encourage big thinking through panel discussions with prominent local businesswomen who will address issues pertaining to strategic business growth, entrepreneurship, leadership, and sustainability. Blogging workshop

OCT. 24—2 Tech Divas will host “Blogging for Beginners: A Laptop Workshop” from 10 a.m.-2 p.m. at the Courtyard Marriott, 5308 Liberty Ave., Shadyside. This is designed for the technologically challenged who would like to start a blog for fun or for business but aren’t sure where to start. The workshops are taught in small groups and will show participants everything needed to know in order to set up a blog easily, quickly and to maximize both SEO and branding potential. OCT. 29—The Carnegie Library of Pittsburgh will host their Business Program Series from 12:15-1 p.m. at the Downtown and Business branch, 612 Smithfield St. The topic is “It’s Your Money: Pennsylvania’s Confusing and Amusing Sales Tax Application.” Mary Bach, chair of the Consumer Issues Task Force for the Pennsylvania AARP, will be the presenter and will discuss what items are taxable and what ones are exempt.
