Theater fund-raiser

The New Hazlett Theater presents “Halloween at the Hazlett: Dia de los Muertos” from 10 p.m.-2 a.m. at Allegheny Square East, North Side. The fund-raiser will include food, the Day Glo Art Exhibit and live performances by NAKA Entertainment, Greer Reed-Jones with the August Wilson Center Dance Ensemble, and much more. There will also be a costume contest. Guests are asked to dress like their favorite dead celebrity. The cost is $25 in advance and $35 at the door. Motown tribute

Pittsburgh’s Next Generation of Music Legends presents a Pittsburgh Tribute to Motown Records’ 50th Anniversary at 7:30 p.m. at the August Wilson Center, 980 Liberty Ave., Cultural District. This is a live concert by Pittsburgh’s All-Star musicians performing the hits from Motown Records. ‘Ella’

The Pittsburgh Public Theater presents “Ella” at 8 p.m. at the O’Reilly Theater, 621 Penn Ave., Cultural District. This is the story of jazz great Ella Fitzgerald. The musical will transport the audience to the French Riviera, which is where one of Fitzgerald’s most thrilling concerts occurred. Tina Fabrique plays Ella. Songs featured in the performance include “It Don’t Mean a Thing (If It Ain’t Got That Swing),” “A Tisket-A Tasket” and more. The last performance will be Nov. 1.
