Holiday jazz concert

The August Wilson Center for African American Culture presents “December Jazz,” a Holiday Concert at 8 p.m. at 980 Liberty Ave., Cultural District. The concert will include special guest vocalist Carolyn Perteete along with the Pittsburgh Jazz Orchestra featuring Sean Jones. This concert is the perfect way to bring in the holiday season and is for the entire family. ‘The Nutcracker’

The Pittsburgh Ballet Theatre presents “The Nutcracker” at 2 p.m. at the Benedum Center, 719 Liberty Ave., Cultural District. This is the story of Marie and the adventures of her nutcracker. The show takes place in Pittsburgh and includes the Kaufmann’s clock, a Heinz delivery truck and a view of Mt. Washington. There will also be a 7 p.m. performance. The show runs through Dec. 27. Nativity

The University of Pittsburgh’s Department of Africana Studies presents “Nativity: A Christmas Gift” at 8 p.m. at Alumni Hall, 7th floor Auditorium, 4227 Fifth Ave., Oakland. The performance will feature the Shona Sharif African Dance and Drum Ensemble and is inspired by Langston Hughes’ “Black Nativity,” the show explores the Christmas season through traditional West African dance and 20th century gospel music.
