DEC. 10—The Carnegie Library of Pittsburgh will host their Business Program Series from 12:15-1 p.m. at the Downtown and Business branch, 612 Smithfield St. The topic is “Census 2010: stand Up And Be Counted!” Benita M. Johnson, partnership specialist for the U.S. Census Bureau, Census 2010, will be the presenter and will discuss why it is critical for every resident in one’s area to be counted and how to help one’s community achieve this goal. Facebook for businesses

DEC. 16—The Robert Morris University Sewall Business Center will host “Facebook Marketing for Business Owners” from 6-9 p.m. at the Moon Township Campus, 6001 University Blvd., Moon Township. Rori Rasel, of Social Marketing Maven and Advertisers Associates and Contact One Communications, will discuss how to use the social networking site, Facebook, to spread the word about their business through the site’s tools such as fan pages, gift apps and event calendars. Certification/contracting workshop

DEC. 17—The U.S. Small Business Administration will host an 8(a) and HUBZone Certification & Contracting workshop from 9 a.m.-12 p.m. at the Riverside Center for Innovation, 700 River Ave., 1st floor Conference Room, North Side. Why the Real Cost of Goods Keeps Going Down!” A 61-minute videodisc will take a meaningful look at the economics behind the inexpensive goods for sale in big-box stores and malls. It discusses the Walmart effect, the no-frills philosophy of IKEA and the triumphs and woes of China in its role as the manufacturer for the world. This event is free and open to the public. Professional networking

DEC. 17—Jessica Lee will host “Entrepreneurial Thursdays” from 5:30-8 p.m. at Little E’s, 949 Liberty Ave., Downtown. This is a professional networking event with live jazz/R&B music. DEC. 18—Spahr Consulting will host the “How Do You Look…on Paper?” Resume and Bio Seminar from 2-3 p.m. This is a teleseminar that will discuss current trends and give tips to make one’s resume and bio documents viewer-ready. Community marketplace

DEC. 19—Hosanna House will host a Community Marketplace from 10 a.m.-4 p.m. at 807 Wallace Ave., Wilkinsburg. The Marketplace is to develop a venue where people bring their families to visit and be entertained while shopping and networking.
