Networking presentation

JAN. 13—The Pittsburgh Coaches Association will host Five Networking Essentials, “Lunch & Learn” from 11:15 a.m.-1 p.m. at the Grand Concourse, 100 W. Station Square Dr., Station Square. Deanna Tucci Schmitt will lead this interactive networking presentation on how individuals can make networking work for them. The cost is $30 for members and $40 for non-members. Financial series

JAN. 13—The YWCA of Greater Pittsburgh will host their Financial Empowerment Series from 6:30-8 p.m. at the YWCA Homewood-Brushton location, 6907 Frankstown Rd., Homewood. Every Wednesday from now through Jan. 27, this interactive series of four workshops that’s designed to correct unhealthy financial habits and help consumers gain control of their financial lives. The workshop will cover various topics such as, Making the Commitment—Budgeting; Using Banks and Credit Unions; Credit and Credit Repair; and Saving and Investing. Business series

JAN. 14—The Carnegie Library of Pittsburgh will host their Business Program Series from 12:15-1 p.m. at the Downtown & Business branch, 612 Smithfield St.. The topic is “What You Need to Know to Protect Your Credit and Credit Scores.” Jenn Carr, Certified Credit Consultant of Credit Justice Services, will teach attendees about the credit scoring system, what type of credit one should have, whether paying one’s credit cards on time is enough, and how credit card debt can help or hurt one’s score. This session will also explain how once can become personally involved in understanding their credit report and turn less than perfect credit into the solid credit scores one deserves. Professional networking

JAN. 14—Jessica Lee will host “Entrepreneurial Thursdays” from 5:30-8 p.m. at Little E’s, 949 Liberty Ave., Downtown. This is a professional networking event with live jazz/ R&B music. This week’s theme is “Going Green and Global.” There is a $10 cover charge with a full bar and dinner selections. Business casual is the attire. No jeans or tennis shoes. Export basics

JAN. 15—Saint Vincent College Small Business Development Center and US Commercial Service & Southwestern PA Commission will host “Export Basics: An Introduction to Exporting” from 9 a.m.-12 p.m. at 300 Fraser Purchase Rd., Latrobe. This seminar will provide individuals with the information needed to determine if exporting is a viable option for their company. A continental breakfast is included. Credit counseling

JAN. 20—The Carnegie Library of Pittsburgh will host a Business Program Series from 10:15-11 a.m. at the Namm Business Center, 5801 Forbes Ave., Squirrel Hill. The topic is “Learn How to Obtain and Use Credit Appropriately.” Todd Miller of Advantage Credit Counseling Service will discuss how one can obtain and use credit properly. Stimulus package

JAN. 20—The National Association of Women Business Owners of Greater Pittsburgh and the Women & Minorities Recovery Coalition will host “Economic Stimulus Package: A Guide to Getting Your Piece of Pie” at 3 p.m. at Human Services Building, 1 Smithfield St., Downtown. Individuals will learn where to find available stimulus money for their business and why more stimulus money is not getting to western Pennsylvania. This event is free and seating is limited.
