Credit counseling

JAN. 20—The Carnegie Library of Pittsburgh will host a Business Program Series from 10:15-11 a.m. at the Namm Business Center, 5801 Forbes Ave., Squirrel Hill. The topic is “Learn How to Obtain and Use Credit Appropriately.” Todd Miller of Advantage Credit Counseling Service will discuss how one can obtain and use credit properly. Stimulus package

JAN. 20—The National Association of Women Business Owners of Greater Pittsburgh and the Women & Minorities Recovery Coalition will host “Economic Stimulus Package: A Guide to Getting Your Piece of Pie” at 3p.m. at Human Services Building, 1 Smithfield St., Downtown. Individuals will learn where to find available stimulus money for their business and why more stimulus money is not getting to Western Pennsylvania. This event is free and seating is limited. Financial series

JAN. 20—The YWCA of Greater Pittsburgh will host their Financial Empowerment Series from 6:30-8 p.m. at the YWCA Homewood-Brushton location, 6907 Frankstown Rd., Homewood. Every Wednesday from now through Jan. 27, this interactive series of four workshops that are designed to correct unhealthy financial habits and help consumers gain control of their financial lives. The workshop will cover various topics such as, Making the Commitment—Budgeting; Using Banks and Credit Unions; Credit and Credit Repair; and Saving and Investing. There will be free parking, child care and a copy of your credit report. Registration is required. The cost is $6 per workshop. JAN. 21—The Carnegie Library of Pittsburgh will host their Business Program Series from 12:15-1 p.m. at the Downtown & Business Branch, 612 Smithfield St. The topic is “Resolution Get Organized in 2010, Need Help? Ask the Experts!” A panel of local experts from the National Association of Professional Organizers will answer questions about organizing one’s office, home and life in general. JAN. 21—Jessica Lee will host “Entrepreneurial Thursdays” from 5:30-8 p.m. at Little E’s, 949 Liberty Ave., Downtown. This is a professional networking event with live jazz/R&B music. JAN. 23—SCORE will host their Small Business Basics workshop from 9 a.m.-1 p.m. at DeVry University, 210 Sixth Ave., Downtown. Business professionals cover the topics of small business planning, recordkeeping, taxes, financing, marketing and business loans. The cost is $45 and registration is requested.
