First I have to give my condolences to the entire Dyer family who laid to rest the beautiful Mara Dyer-Knox this past weekend. I grew up with Mara and she had a smile that would light up any room and a heart of gold. All who knew her will truly miss her.
This week I visited Calvary Baptist Church in the Hill District, Ava Lounge in East Liberty, Tana Ethiopian Cuisine in East Liberty, Tim’s Lounge in the Hill District, CJ’s in the Strip District and Billy’s Gold Door in Homewood.

My first stop was Calvary Baptist Church in the Hill District where our own Pittsburgh celebrity Fred Quinn came in from Atlanta, Ga., to visit his mother, Angela Stribling, and the rest of his family and friends. He is a Schenley High School graduate who now attends historical Morehouse College that Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. graduated from in 1948 with a B.A. degree in sociology. He also brought in two friends from Morehouse, Jason and Raleigh, who are also proud to be a part of history.

My next stop was at Ava Lounge in East Liberty where Jason of First Friday’s held his annual First Friday event called March Mingle. Every professional came out to this event to get their party and drink on and have a great time.
My next stop was at the Tana Ethiopian Cuisine restaurant in East Liberty where Knowledge Build Allah of Classic 1824 and the Community Empowerment Association held his birthday event with friends and friends. Most of the people in attendance were professionals that Knowledge networked with over the years.
My next stop was at Billy’s Gold Door in Homewood where birthday celebrations were taking place by Greg and other people in attendance. The food was great and the music had everyone on the dance floor.

My next stop was at CJ’s in the Strip District where people in the city came out to dance to the music of Mike aka The Punisher. Since the snow left, everyone was happy to get out and party again.
My final destination was at Tim’s Lounge in the Hill District where family and friends came to pay tribute to Mara Dyer-Knox, who passed away last week. She will always in our hearts and will never be forgotten.
