This week I visited the Holiday Inn in Oakland at Bridges, Ava Lounge in East Liberty, Kenny’s in the Hill District, Ace & Deuces Lounge in the Hill District, CJ’s in the Strip District and The Corner Cafe on the South Side.
My first stop was at the Holiday Inn in Oakland at Bridges where B-PEP (The Black Political Empowerment Project) held their annual Jazz Fun-Raiser with many powerful jazz musicians, guest emcees and other local celebrities. Tim Stevens is the president and chairman of this organization and I’m glad to be a member.

My next stop was at Ava Lounge in East Liberty where Jason held his annual event called First Fridays. This month’s theme was called “Social Light” where all the young professionals came out to get their party and drink on and network.
My next stop was at CJ’s in the Strip District where oldies but goodies were the hot topic of the night as everyone was on the dance floor with tunes played by Mike “The Punisher.”

My next stop was the Corner Cafe on the South Side where Fletcher and Shenita Jones held their monthly event called “The Last Poet Standing” featuring poets from all over the Pittsburgh area for a chance to win $250. It was a great time for everyone who came out. State Rep. Jake Wheatley and Brotha Ash Productions were the official sponsors of this event.
My next stop was at Kenny’s Place in the Hill District where karaoke was in full effect and Ms. Pratt celebrated her birthday in grand style with Meech, family and friends.
My final destination was at Ace and Deuces Lounge in the Hill District where another birthday celebration took place by birthday girl Jackie. She was dressed to impress and had a great time celebrating her birthday.
