APRIL 28—The Carnegie Library of Pittsburgh will host their Business Program Series at 12:15-1 p.m. at the Downtown & Business branch, 612 Smithfield St. The topic is “How Feng Shui Can Positively Influence Your Business and Your Home.” Yvonne Phillips of Creative Color and Design will share color and design principles that will create a peaceful and profitable work environment. Certification and contracting workshop

APRIL 28—U.S. Small Business Administration will be conducting an 8(a) and HUBZone Certification & Contracting Day from 9 a.m.-12 p.m. at the Riverside Center for Innovation, 700 River Ave., 1st floor Conference Room, North Side. There will be hourly appointments being conducted and MBE/WBE and Veteran-owned businesses are encouraged to attend. There will also be a session from 1-4 p.m. It is free to the public. Enterprise session

APRIL 28—The YWCA Greater Pittsburgh will host their YW Enterprise Spring Business Session from 6-8 p.m. at 305 Wood St., Downtown. The month of April workshops will focus on Business Finance. This week’s topic is “Completing the YWCA Micro Loan Application.” The presenters will be Alice Williams and Tara Ellison Jones. APRIL 29—Jessica Lee and Pittsburgh Gateway Corp. will host “Entrepreneurial Thursdays” from 5:30-8 p.m. at Little E’s, 949 Liberty Ave., Downtown. The theme is “Serial and Parallel Entrepreneurs.” This is a professional networking event with live jazz/R&B music. There is a $5 fee. Business casual is the attire. No jeans or tennis shoes. MAY 5—The University of Pittsburgh Small Business Development Center and the Diversity Business Resource Center will host a Social Networking for Small Business seminar from 2-4 p.m. at the Sigma Conference and Event Center, 1717 Babcock Blvd., Ross Township. Attendees will learn how to enhance marketing efforts with social networking sites like Twitter, Facebook, Myspace, LinkedIn and more. Reservations are requested by April 30 and the cost is $25.
