Out & About with Brotha Ash

This week I visited Schenley High School in East Liberty, Tim’s Lounge in the Hill District, The Pittsburgh Playwrights Theatre in Downtown Pittsburgh, Babylon and CJ’s in the Strip District, The Wyndam Hotel in Oakland and Ava Lounge in East Liberty.

My first stop was at Schenley High School where Pittsburgh Steeler Rashard Mendenhall pitched in to help out an organization called “The Early Childhood Male Fatherhood Involvement.” This event was also called the “2nd Annual March Badness Basketball Event.” I have to shout out Melvin El, Henry, Rick Rock and Rashard Mendenhall for doing something positive in the community.

The ladies come out for a night on the town at CJ’s in the Strip District.

My next stop was at the Pittsburgh Playwrights Theatre in Downtown Pittsburgh where actor and poet Leslie X Erza and others performed in a play called “Angry Black Men.” This event was inspiring and educational and gave you a lot to think about. If you missed it, you really missed a great show.

My next stop was CJ’s in the Strip District where everyone was gettin’ their dance on with DJ Sly Jock on the 1’s and 2’s. It’s always crowded every Friday night at CJ’s in the Strip, so come on out and have a great time.

My next stop was at the new hot spot called Babylon in the Strip District. This place is located 32nd and Smallman streets. Everyone was in the building for the new grand opening. Don’t miss out on the fun and great music.

The one and only DJ Stephan on the 1’s and 2’s at Ava Lounge in East Liberty at the event called “Ya Dig?”

My next stop was at the Wyndam Hotel in Oakland where Just Us held their second annual Evening of Elegance II featuring DJ Bobby B on the 1’s and 2’s. This is an event for the grown and sexy.

My final destination was Ava Lounge in East Liberty where Mighty Meg F hosted Pittsburgh’s longest running Soul Night featuring the one and only DJ Stephan on the 1’s and 2’s doing his thing. “Ya Dig?” is the name of the event and Ava is the new location. “Ya Dig?” is a weekly night of soul music with a rotating set of deeays, so come check it out.
