Westinghouse pageant

MAY 21—Westinghouse High School will host their 2010 Miss Westinghouse Pageant “Classique and Magnifique” at 6 p.m. at the school auditorium, 1101 N. Murtland Ave., Homewood. Benefit

MAY 21—The Neighborhood Academy Class of 2010 will host the 6th Annual Faces of The Future Benefit at American Eagle Outfitters, 77 Hot Metal St., South Side. Fundraiser walk

MAY 22—Highmark Blue Cross & Blue Shield will host their 8th Annual Highmark Walk for a Healthy Community Fundraiser at 9 a.m. at Schenley Park, Oakland. The event supports 59 health and human service agencies within western Pennsylvania and encourages individuals to become active and adopt regular exercise routines. There will be a 5K walk and a one-mile walk for fun. The event will be held, rain or shine. Madden tournament

MAY 22—The Community Empowerment Association will host a Madden Tournament from 12-4 p.m. at the CEA Cultural Center, 7143 Fleury Way, Homewood. There will be a Madden tournament and a cookout. For more information, call Lee Davis at 412-371-3609, ext. 23.

Community forum

MAY 22—Black Voices for Peace will host the African-American Liberation Day-Malcolm X Day Forum from 3-5 p.m. at the Homewood Carnegie Library, 7101 Hamilton Ave., Homewood. The topic will be “Haiti and United State Foreign Policy” and the discussion will be led by Dr. Leon Pamphile, CEO of the Functional Literacy Ministry of Haiti. Smoking cessation

MAY 24—The Stop Smoking Program Department of UPMC Passavant will host a Smoking Cessation Program from 7-8:30 p.m. in the Dining Room #2, 9100 Babcock Blvd., Pittsburgh. This is the first of a six-week program to help individuals stop smoking. Facilitators will discuss preparation for quitting, the benefits of quitting, relapse prevention and more. Leadership summit

MAY 28—The African American Leadership Association and UPMC’s Center for Inclusion will host the 2nd Annual African American Leadership Summit from 9 a.m.-3 p.m. at the Herberman Conference Center, 5230 Centre Ave., Shadyside. The theme is “Success in Leadership.” The summit will consist of various speakers, facilitators, panelists and the keynote speaker Jay Williams, the mayor of Youngstown, Ohio. There will also be a leadership development series certificate presentation awards ­ceremony. Registration is ­required and the cost is $50. Diabetes education

JUNE 2—UPMC Passavant will host a Diabetes Education Series from 1-3:30 p.m. at 9100 Babcock Blvd., McCandless. The series will teach individuals and loved ones how to manage the disease with techniques suggested by the American Diabetes Association. Attendees will learn how to administer insulin and medication, monitor blood glucose and proper diets and exercise regimens. Registration is requested. For more information, all 412-367-6887.
