With the absence of WAMO 106.7FM, B. Marshall Productions was able to pull off what most promoters could not. His company presented Pittsburgh’s first Spring Bling Celebration, May 28 at the Station Square Amphitheatre by promoting the event heavily on his Facebook page, BET television, Brotha Ash Productions, SteelCityLive.com and 101theBlaze.com.

This event featured national recording hip-hop artist Lil’ Kim aka Queen Bee, Busta Rhymes, Hurricane Chris, Yo Gotti and Roscoe Dash. Straight Money Entertainment and Rovalike records started the show. The concert at Station Square’s Amphitheatre was a major success and so was the after-party at Club Heat in the Strip District.
All the acts performed with the exception of Yo Gotti because of the rain delay, but he is now added to the Summer Fest lineup starring hip-hop artist Fabolous which will be June 12 at the Station Square Amphitheatre. Lil’ Kim and Busta Rhymes also made an appearance at the after-party at Club Heat as promised and they did not disappoint their fans.
The show was supposed to start at 7 p.m. but because of the rain it was delayed until 8 p.m. B. Marshall Productions also let everyone who paid general admission get closer to the stage. The rain kept some people away, but it was still a great crowd of about 2,000 people.

“I think this event is great and we are glad to be a part of it,” said Adam Golden of the Community Empowerment Association.
DJ Rok and DJ Schizo were the official deejays for the event and they were excited to be a part of Spring Bling.
“If you weren’t here, you’ve missed the concert of the summer. It definitely went down and the crowd was ready to get it cracking. For those of you who were able to make it, you know what I’m talking about,” said DJ Rok.
“It went down with B. Marshall Productions and DJ Schizo in the building. Busta Rhymes, Lil’ Kim, Hurricane Chris and Roscoe Dash did perform. I’m mad about the weather situation, but God can’t do anything wrong. We had to delay the concert and we have a little equipment damage, but we made it through. I also took my time and I prayed on the situation and made it happen,” said Schizo.
Schizo, along with others in attendance, had something to say about the T.I. event that did not go so well.
Rosci from BET’s 106 and Park hosted the event.
“I think it’s unfortunate that you guys don’t have a hip-hop/R&B station in Pittsburgh anymore. It’s great that the community and the promoters still find a way to bring events to the city like the Spring Bling. Other cities that no longer have a hip-hop/R&B station have died out, but I think it’s great that Pittsburgh still prospers. You had a classic hip-hop artist in the building like Busta Rhymes who touches the stage and brings fire and energy all the time. He is one of my favorite all time artist and the show was great and it a lot of fun,” said Rosci.
National recording hip-hop artist Hurricane Chris had the crowd hyped from the beginning of his set to the end.
“Anytime I can get on stage and perform for my fans, it’s a major blessing. I’m still doing what I love to do so I’m grateful to be here in Pittsburgh. I have a new single coming out called “Coke Bottle” so make sure you check that out,” said Hurricane Chris.
“I heard about the T.I. event and how he didn’t perform. I don’t really read the paper or watch the news because of all the negativity, but God had me pick up a New Pittsburgh Courier and I read the story. I’m mad and disappointed at what happened,” said DJ Schizo.
The weather did not stop the Spring Bling, but it did put a damper on the event at first. “This is a good movement out here so far. I just started working with www.101theBlaze.com and I’m a part of the street team. Make sure you check out the station. Since the rain cleared up everyone came out and it’s been awhile since we had something like this,” said Tone Promotions of www.101theBlaze.com.
Dee Jay Boogie of www.Boogstown.com said that God is good and he was glad that the rain cleared up and he was optimistic about the event and Sara Cropcho of www.Boogstown.com said that she was glad that the weather cleared up so more people would come.
“I am glad that it was a good turnout. Because of the rain it was an average event. There were a lot of things going on in the city this weekend, but the turnout was decent. As far as the T.I. event, I think the promoters are the reason why we are in trouble in Pittsburgh. We get a bad reputation for our city because a lot of promoters are not true to their word. They are not about building the city up, but they are in it for the money. At the end of the day, I think they would do a lot better instead of lying to the public,” said hip-hop artist Mista Scrapp.
The next event presented by B. Marshall Productions is the Pittsburgh’s Summerfest featuring Fabolous, Tyga and Ray J., June 12.
