JUNE 9—The Small Business Development Center of Saint Vincent College will host “Grow Your Business Through Government Procurement” from 9 a.m.-12 p.m. at 300 Fraser Purchase Rd., Latrobe. This free half-day seminar will give participants the opportunity to hear from government agencies and prime contractors on how to do business with their organizations. Diversity and inclusion plan

JUNE 9—The Western Pennsylvania Diversity Initiative will host their Symposium Implementing a Diversity and Inclusion Plan from 2-4 p.m. at Ciopinno, 2350 Railroad St., Strip District. The presenter will be Jay Lubowitz from Duquesne University. He will introduce the Taylor Cox model of implementing a diversity plan in an organization. Understanding women power

JUNE 9—Enterprise Forum Pittsburgh will host “Understanding the Importance of Women Power” from 5:30-8 p.m. at the Pittsburgh Golf Club, 5280 Northumberland St., Pittsburgh. The event will be moderated by Matrix CEO, Suzy Teele, with a panel discussion featuring various successful women business owners. They’ll discuss the significance of the changing demographics in the corner office and what it means to one’s business career. Entrepreneur’s conference

JUNE 10—The Duquesne University Small Business Development Center will host the 12th Annual Entrepreneur’s Growth Conference from 8 a.m.-5 p.m. at the University, 600 Forbes Ave., Uptown. Individuals will learn how to make one’s business flourish in a tough economy, gain control of one’s bottom line, simplify one’s business practices and how to turn a new idea into a business opportunity. They will also discuss the secrets if successful entre­pre­neurs, where to find money and more. JUNE 10—The Carnegie Library of Pittsburgh will host their Business Program Series at 12:15-1 p.m. at the Downtown and Business branch, 612 Smithfield St. The topic is “Public Speaking: Tips, Tools and Techniques.” Dennis Snedden of Time Management Services at the Carnegie Library of Pittsburgh Downtown and Business location will discuss how to prepare, practice and present more effectively, increase one’s speaking comfort and confidence, and learn how to overcome one’s fears and reduce nervousness.
