Out & About with Brotha Ash

This week I visited Mellon Park in East Liberty, The August Wilson Center for African American Culture in Downtown Pittsburgh, Calvary Baptist Church in the Hill District, Kenny’s Place in the Hill District and the Shadow Lounge in East Liberty.

My first stop was at the August Wilson Center where House of Manna Ministries presented a Father’s Day Celebration & Juneteenth Recognition “An Evening of Comedy and Performance” which featured WGBN’s Sherri Lynn Johnson as the host along with comedians and singers.

My next stop was at the Shadow Lounge where Style and Steel presented their third annual ALL WHITE Summer Kick-off Party called “ENERGY” featuring DJ Selecta, Vybz Machine and Lauren G on the 1’s and 2’s. Most of the guests at this event dressed in white.

My next stop was at the Shadow Lounge where 720 Records and Time Bomb Clothing Store presented Classic Material’s third anniversary celebration and SMI’s birthday bash with a live performance by DJ Boogie Blind and Pharoahe Monch.

My next stop was at Kenny’s Place in the Hill District where the DeJuan Blair Foundation and Kenny’s Place presented “DeJuan Black Meet and Greet.” I have to shout out Pittsburgh’s own Hill District native and NBA star of the San Antonio Spurs, DeJuan Blair, for doing big things for the community.

My next stop was at Calvary Baptist Church in the Hill District where they presented an event called “Father to Father—A Male Concert Extravaganza” featuring Abraham Humphries, The Calvary Male Choir, Tim Carter, Melvin Jackson, Cayenne Williams, Mt. Ararat Male Choir, Rodman Male Choir and the one and only Minister Brian Wright Sr. If you missed this concert, you really missed a great time. Everyone was great, but Brian Wright had everyone on their feet singing for the Lord.

My final destination was at Mellon Park in East Liberty where Fatherhood Magazine “The Magazine for Young, Expecting, and Urban Fathers” held a special cookout for Father’s Day. I have to shout out Wan Wes and Henry for always doing something positive in the community.

You know Brotha Ash has a REAL CONNECTION to the community. Send all your party and event information to info@BrothaAshProductions.com and I’ll see you next week OUT AND ABOUT!!!
