This week I visited the William Pitt Student Union in Oakland, the Bynum Theater in Downtown Pittsburgh, Holiday Inn in Oakland, Schenley Park in Oakland and the Montage in Wilkinsburg, Pa.
My first stop was at the William Pitt Student Union where the Darkins Group held their annual Pittsburgh Music and Entertainment Conference with music execs giving aspiring artists tips on how to be successful in the music industry. Actress LisaRaye, singer Newland and Mr. Ross were panelists for this event.
|Intrinsiq from Washington, D.C., performed live on stage at the 7th Annual Black Family Reunion at Schenley Park.
My next stop was at the Bynum theatre where the Darkins Group held the fiurth Annual SHYNE Awards to honor youths for their achievements. It is great to see young people being honored for something positive and the SHYNE Awards shines the light on these people.
My next stop was at the Holiday Inn where Smooth Jazz Fridays was in full effect with everyone dressed to impress in white attire featuring singer Danny Boy and the Brother-to-Brother band. Line dancing king Roland Ford started it off and everyone had a great time.
My next stop was at Schenley Park where the Community Empowerment Association held their 7th Annual Black Family Reunion for the community, which was sponsored by Macy’s and many others. This event had something for everyone to get involved in. It featured health, film discussions and local entertainment. The entertaining highlight was when national recording artist Bobby V and Harold Melvin’s Bluenotes performed for their fans.
My final destination was at the Montage in Wilkinsburg where Harold Melvin’s Bluenotes had a meet and greet with their fans. It was great to be in the same room with these music legends. They signed autographs and spent quality time with their fans at the meet and greet.
