Champions to salute champions

Champion Enterprises will host their 35th anniversary gala at the Sheraton Hotel Station Square Sept. 17.

The highlight of the evening will feature a Champions Award recognition to those who have been most important to the history and success of the agency’s 35 years of dedicated community service.

Those to be recognized and honored are:

Judge Dwayne Woodruff, former Steelers Super Bowl champion; Bill and Jack Goodrich, Goodrich, Goodrich attorneys at law; Iftakhar Malic, owner Penn Avenue McDonald’s; Bill Robinson, former Pittsburgh city councilman, former state representative and current county Councilman; ­Connie Hawkins, NBA Hall of Fame; Twanda Carlisle, former Pittsburgh city councilwoman, currently working for the NAACP; Elsie Hillman; Charles Powell, Urban Redevelopment Authority; CitiParks; Franco Harris, four-time Super Bowl champion; The New Pittsburgh Courier; the mayor’s office, city of Pittsburgh.

The evening will also feature a first time Pittsburgh “Red Party.”

All are invited to wear their best red attire. Prizes will be awarded to the best dressed couples. A Las Vegas-style Monte Carlo room, a spectacular silent sports auction (bring your credit card to get those early Christmas gifts, DJ Fred, a cash bar, prizes, spirits, celebrities and of course a hot red fashion show by the Diamond models.
