Recovery celebration
SEPT. 8—Familylinks will host their Life-Changing Seminar Series as a part of the 21st Annual National Alcohol and Drug Addiction Recovery Month from 6-8 p.m. at 250 Shady Ave., Shadyside. SEPT. 10—The Center for Africanamerican Urban Studies and the Economy of the Carnegie Mellon University Humanities and Social Sciences Department of History will host their Speakers Series Opening Reception from 4:30-6 p.m. at Danforth Lounge in the University Center, 5000 Forbes Ave., Oakland. Appreciation day

Inheritance seminar
SEPT. 14—Pittsburgh Planned Giving Council will host its “How Much is Enough: Will Your Inheritance Be a Blessing or a Burden?” from 11:30 a.m.-1:30 p.m. at Koppers Building Conference Center, 436 Seventh Ave., Downtown. Pete Eberhart will lead this presentation that will help attendees identify the many issues surrounding this question and will highlight how charitable planning can be part of the answer. Home workshop
