Shame on you, thanks to others

On Sept. 18, there was a workshop I held that addressed the fact that we as a people frequently discuss the problems, but fail to focus on the solutions.

There were letters and phone calls made to a number of people whom I believe were concerned enough to attend, but I was wrong. A number of them would not even answer their phones. However, my God interceded and we were blessed with a wonderful group that did attend and were involved. They came from Oakland, North Side, Sugar Top, Murrysville, Monroeville, Hill District, Wilkinsburg, Versailles, Stanton Heights and McKeesport.

Allegheny County Councilman Bill Robinson, the dean of Black officials, was the very able emcee. Bill discussed at length the importance and responsibility of leadership.

The first problem discussed were the failure of the Black churches across this nation. A researcher provided us with documentation that Black churches across America, through tithing and regular offering between the years of 1980-2009, have raised $447 billion. One of those in attendance asked, “Then explain why Lemington Home is still closed. There has to be enough local money to reopen.” (That is a solution.)

Calvin Clinton, who represents the Black Union Workers, offered his training of Blacks as a solution to unemployment in our communities.

The workshop started at 10 a.m. and ended at 1 p.m.

There were solutions offered and discussed about unemployment, incarceration rates, inability of Black contractors being provided opportunities, educational problems, single parent homes, failure to assume responsibility for self and family, politicians disrespecting Black voters, Black elected officials owing their souls to the Democratic Party, youthful corporation employees consumed with “you right, Massa” complex, and the established fact that not all of us are entrepreneurially oriented.

Please remember Kingsley Association.
