Carrick killed themselves with crucial mistakes as they came a touchdown short of beating Schenley, 14-7, on Saturday at Cupples Stadium.
“We’re just undisciplined,” Carrick’s coach Jeff McCafferty said. “We care too much about ourselves and not enough about this team. We did some things well but not enough, obviously.”

Kevaun Frenzley scored first for Schenley on a 7-yard run with 3:14 in the first quarter. Then, Schenley jumped out to a 14-0 halftime lead by way of a 17-yard touchdown catch by Malik St. Victor.
“It’s funny. Before the game I talked to the coaches and I said something’s telling me that Malik’s going to have a big game,” Schenley’s coach Jason Bell said. “He had a great week of practice, probably the best one he’s ever had. That’s why we wanted to try to get him the ball a little bit more.”
JaJuan Thomas led the way for Carrick with two catches for 91 yards. One of those was their lone score, a 26-yarder, which came in the third quarter.
“We still have a lot of learning to do,” Bell said. “I’m proud of them. We still have a long way to go. I know that it’s going to be a bumpy road but we’re going to put up a fight.”
Allderdice 26, Westinghouse 6
Mike Pfleger and Dominick Gardner connected on three touchdowns from 42, 37, and 20 yards to help themselves to their fourth consecutive league victory this season. Pfleger finished with 8 of 17 passes for 187 yards.
Westinghouse’s lone score of the game came on an 81-yard kickoff return by Kevin Wilson.
Oliver 29, Peabody 12
The Bears earned their first win by way of two touchdown passes from Shakeem Cox of 21 and 25 yards to Trevon Kendrick and Tevin Washington, respectively. Tyree Mathis also connected on a score of 47 yards to Joquet Foster, who also scored on a 56-yard punt return.
Donte Forte led the Highlanders as he completed 15 of 38 passes for 194 yards and two touchdowns. Jamal Knox and Robert Lee were on the receiving end of those scores from 24 and 17 yards out.
Perry 28, Langley 6
Perry handed the Mustangs their first conference loss due to the continued success of Greg McGhee. The senior quarterback shone again as he completed 12 of 18 passes for 258 yards and a touchdown. One of his favorite targets, Eric Frye, had another good game catching four passes for 177 yards, including a 78-yard touchdown pass in the second quarter.
Perry’s defense forced Langley’s Jaquan Green to throw four interceptions and stifled the Mustangs’ offense by limiting their usually high powered air attack to one score—an 18-yard pass from Green to Stephon Faye with under eight minutes to go in the game.
The game to watch next week will be the Commodores facing Allderdice to break the tie at the top of the standings in the City League.
