Kuntu Theatre

This is the first performance of the 2010-11 season, which celebrates playwrights influenced by Rob Penny. Smooth Jazz

Club Duo presents Smooth Jazz Friday’s from 8 p.m.-2 a.m. at the Holiday Inn Select, 100 Lytton Ave., Oakland. This is a mix of smooth jazz featuring the Smooth Groove Band and DJ Sly Jock. Roland Ford will also get the evening started with line dancing. There will be a complimentary buffet and drinks. This is an over 30 event and patrons cannot wear timberlands, jeans or sneakers. The University of Pittsburgh Department of Music presents their 40th Annual Jazz Seminar Concert at 8 p.m. at the Carnegie Music Hall, 4400 Forbes Ave., Oakland. This is an all-star concert featuring musicians from all over the country. Allegheny County Councilman Bill Robinson will be the Master of Ceremonies and there will be a presentation of the Jazz Seminar Committee and an induction into the Pitt International Academy of Jazz Hall of Fame.
