Woman symposium
NOV. 6—The Softer Side Seminars Inc. will host the 3rd Annual Woman to Woman Empowerment Symposium from 9 a.m.-2 p.m. at the Blakey Program Center, 1908 Wylie Ave., Hill District. Youth summit
NOV. 6—Lighthouse Cathedral and the South Pittsburgh Coalition for Peace will host the “Dare to Dream” Youth Summit from 10 a.m.-3 p.m. at 810 Fisher St., Mt. Oliver. There will be a march through Mt. Oliver, Beltzhoover, Allentown and Knoxville. Marchers are asked to wear comfortable shoes and career costumes/dress that demonstrate what they aspire to become. Media awards
NOV. 6—The Women and Girls Foundation will host the Women in Media Awards from 6-9 p.m. at the August Wilson Center for African American Culture, 980 Liberty Ave., Cultural District. This event celebrates 14 women in Southwestern Pennsylvania who have paved the way for innovation in the fields of print, television, film, radio, mixed media and the Internet. Collaborate luncheon
NOV. 12—The Bloomfield-Garfield Corporation will host the Collaborate Luncheon from 11:30 a.m.-2 p.m. at the Pittsburgh Athletic Association, 4215 Fifth Ave., Oakland. The luncheon is in recognition of the growing collaboration among Pittsburgh’s East End organizations toward the goal of neighborhood revitalization. The keynote speaker will be Grant Oliphant, President and CEO of the Pittsburgh Foundation and there will also be a presentation of the Distinguished Public Service Award to Mary Lou Tenenbaum. Town Hall Meeting
NOV. 12—The American Urban Radio Networks and the August Wilson Center for African American Culture will host “The Disappearing Black Community and How We Get it Back” Town Hall Meeting with Bev Smith from 7-10 p.m. at 980 Liberty Ave., Cultural District.
