Speak Out: Is voting important??Why or why not?

The mid-term elections were Nov. 2, so we asked Pittsburghers if voting was important to them and this is what you said:

“Yes. Voting is important and my vote counts. It gives me the power to choose and decide who I think is the right person for the job.”
Robert Fitzpatrick

Personal Trainer

“Yes, absolutely. Voting gives me a voice to say who I want and don’t want to get into office. I tend to vote according to my party affiliation.”
Jackie Jones
Homewood
Retired LPN

“Yes. It is needed that I vote. I want to help improve the economy. I know that every vote counts and I want my voice to be heard.”
Shawn Damiels
Point Breeze
Assistant Coach

“I honestly wasn’t going to. I didn’t have a particular reason, just didn’t make it a priority. I feel the elections are somewhat important but don’t think my vote makes a difference in determining who is going to be elected.”
Kanitra Lane
Garfield
Student

“No. I really don’t know what’s going on. When I did see some things on TV and in the newspaper, nothing grabbed me to make me pay attention.”
Menes Nowe
Forest Hills
Computer Tech

“I’m not really sure if I am going to vote because I don’t know what’s going on. I watch the ads but it’s confusing because everybody has something negative to say about each other and that’s all you really hear.”
