Collaborate luncheon

NOV. 12—The Bloomfield-Garfield Corporation will host the Collaborate Luncheon from 11:30 a.m.-2 p.m. at the Pittsburgh Athletic Association, 4215 Fifth Ave., Oakland. The luncheon is in recognition of the growing collaboration among Pittsburgh’s East End organizations toward the goal of neighborhood revitalization. The keynote speaker will be Grant Oliphant, President and CEO of the Pittsburgh Foundation and there will also be a presentation of the Distinguished Public Service Award to Mary Lou Tenenbaum. 40 under 40

NOV. 12—Pittsburgh Magazine will host their 40 under 40 event at 6:30 p.m. at the Children’s Museum, 10 Children’s Way, North Shore. There will be a presentation to the top 40 people in Pittsburgh under the age of 40 who are making accomplishments in the city. Seating is limited and reservations are requested. Town Hall Meeting

NOV. 12—The American Urban Radio Networks and the August Wilson Center for African American Culture will host “The Disappearing Black Community and How We Get it Back” Town Hall Meeting with Bev Smith from 7-10 p.m. at 980 Liberty Ave., Cultural District. This is the first of a four part series of a live radio broadcast. Other guests include Dr. Claud Anderson, George Curry, Dr. Ron Daniels and Rev. Lennox Yearwood. Basketball clinic

NOV. 13—The Kenny Durrett Youth Organization will host a Youth Basketball Clinic from 10 a.m.-2 p.m. at Peabody High School, 515 N. Highland Ave., East Liberty. The clinic is for boys and girls ages 7 to 13. It is free and registration is required. For more information, call 412-583-8998.

Town hall meeting

NOV. 13—The Community Empowerment Association and the Peace Alliance Networking will host the County Wide Emergency Town Hall Meeting at 12:30 p.m. at Schenley High School, 129 Denniston Ave., East Liberty. Founders celebration

NOV. 13—Sigma Gamma Rho Sorority will host their Founders Celebration at 4 p.m. at Del’s Restorante, 4428 Liberty Ave., Pittsburgh. Elder Milton Raiford, SponsorChange.org and the Wilkinsburg Boys and Girls Club will be honored for their work in the community. Veteran’s Day

commemoration

NOV. 14—The Senator John Heinz History Center and Allegheny Cemetery will host a Ceremony to honor United States Colored Troops from the Civil War at 1:30 p.m. at Allegheny Cemetery, 4734 Butler St., Bloomfield. There will be a wreath laying ceremony to honor the hundreds of Black troops resting at the cemetery. The ceremony is part of a series of statewide commemoration and conservation events to mark the 150th anniversary of the Civil War in Pennsylvania.

NOV. 15—A reception to honor the first Urban Heroes class will be held at 6:30 PM at the August Wilson Center for African American Culture at 700 Liberty Avenue in Downtown Pittsburgh. It’s free and open to the public. Sponsored by Geneva College at the Center for Urban Biblical Ministry, the Urban Heroes program was started this year to honor Pittsburgh residents who serve with distinction but often serve behind the scenes. Expressions celebration

NOV. 20—Clear Pathways and YouthPlaces will host their annual Expressions Celebration from 1-4 p.m. at the Hill House Blakey Center, 1908 Wylie Ave., Hill District. There will be performances from the IBEJI Drum Ensemble and saxophonist Jeff Neeley. Along with hip hop dancers, girl scouts and martial art students. The cost is $10. NOV. 30—The Message Carriers of Pennsylvania Inc. will host a Celebration Dinner at 7:15 p.m. at the Churchill Valley Country Club, 800 Beulah Rd., Churchill. The dinner is to celebrate Judge Lester C. Nauhaus. The Message Carriers celebrate and deliver a message of recovery for all. There will also be a reception at 5:30 p.m. Tickets are $50.
