Collaborate luncheon
NOV. 12—The Bloomfield-Garfield Corporation will host the Collaborate Luncheon from 11:30 a.m.-2 p.m. at the Pittsburgh Athletic Association, 4215 Fifth Ave., Oakland. The luncheon is in recognition of the growing collaboration among Pittsburgh’s East End organizations toward the goal of neighborhood revitalization. NOV. 12—Pittsburgh Magazine will host their 40 under 40 event at 6:30 p.m. at the Children’s Museum, 10 Children’s Way, North Shore. There will be a presentation to the top 40 people in Pittsburgh under the age of 40 who are making accomplishments in the city. Seating is limited and reservations are requested. Town Hall Meeting
NOV. 12—The American Urban Radio Networks and the August Wilson Center for African American Culture will host “The Disappearing Black Community and How We Get it Back” Town Hall Meeting with Bev Smith from 7-10 p.m. at 980 Liberty Ave., Cultural District. This is the first of a four part series of a live radio broadcast. Other guests include Dr. Claud Anderson, George Curry, Dr. Ron Daniels and Rev. Lennox Yearwood. Basketball clinic

commemoration
NOV. 14—The Senator John Heinz History Center and Allegheny Cemetery will host a Ceremony to honor United States Colored Troops from the Civil War at 1:30 p.m. at Allegheny Cemetery, 4734 Butler St., Bloomfield. There will be a wreath laying ceremony to honor the hundreds of Black troops resting at the cemetery. The ceremony is part of a series of statewide commemoration and conservation events to mark the 150th anniversary of the Civil War in Pennsylvania.
NOV. 15—A reception to honor the first Urban Heroes class will be held at 6:30 PM at the August Wilson Center for African American Culture at 700 Liberty Avenue in Downtown Pittsburgh. It’s free and open to the public. Sponsored by Geneva College at the Center for Urban Biblical Ministry, the Urban Heroes program was started this year to honor Pittsburgh residents who serve with distinction but often serve behind the scenes.
