BRIGHTON TWP., Pa.—Kathleen Rawlins has been named the new executive director of the American Red Cross Beaver-Lawrence Chapter. In her new role, Rawlins will manage all fundraising efforts and financial matters for the local Red Cross, in addition to overseeing the day-to-day operations of the chapter.

“I am very excited to join such a wonderful and well-respected organization,” said Rawlins. “I am looking forward to working with the Red Cross as we help the people of Beaver and Lawrence counties prevent, prepare for and respond to emergencies.”
Rawlins replaces Theresa Creighan, a longtime Red Cross volunteer who had been serving as the interim executive director. Rawlins brings 15 years of experience working at nonprofit organizations throughout the region with her to the Red Cross.
Most recently she worked as deputy director of operations and development for Strength Inc., a Wilkinsburg-based nonprofit offering non-traditional, spiritually based services designed to empower people and communities. Prior to that, she worked as the development manager for the Multiple Sclerosis Service Society in Pittsburgh.
Additionally, Rawlins has worked at several other charitable organizations in Southwestern Pennsylvania including the St. Vincent College Drug and Alcohol Prevention Program, Just Harvest and Three Rivers Youth.
Rawlins holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in business management and business communications from Carlow College (now Carlow University) and a Master of Science degree in nonprofit management from Robert Morris University.
Rawlins is originally from Monessen, Pa., and currently lives in Wilkinsburg; she is in the process of moving to Beaver Falls.
“I am excited to make Beaver Falls my permanent home,” she said.
The hiring of Rawlins is the latest move in the restructuring of the local Red Cross designed to make the organization a more efficient and effective resource for the residents of Beaver and Lawrence counties.
“We are confident we have found the right person to lead the Red Cross,” said Jack Simon, Chairman of the Board of the local Red Cross. “We are committed to helping the people of Beaver and Lawrence counties prevent, prepare for and respond to emergencies. In our new Executive Director, we wanted someone committed to that mission, and Kathleen certainly fits that description. She will be a great resource for everyone living in our communities.”
In May, the Red Cross announced the new chapter structure, which includes the creation of two new service delivery coordinator positions, one devoted exclusively to Beaver County and one devoted exclusively to Lawrence County.
Last month, the Red Cross announced the hiring of Jody Hawes—a Shenango Twp. native and current Neshannock Twp. resident—as its new Lawrence County service delivery coordinator. Additionally, the Red Cross announced last month that Amy Icenhour—a New Brighton native and current resident of Brighton Twp. who has been working for the local chapter for 24 years—had been promoted to fill the Beaver County service delivery coordinator position.
“This restructure is a very positive step for our organization, and with this team in place, we are moving in the right direction,” said Simon. “This is an exciting time at the local Red Cross.”
