Santa photos

DEC. 8—Tax Services by Karen will host Photos with Santa from 3-8 p.m. at 749 E. Warrington Ave., Allentown. Pictures will be taken through Dec. 11. Coffee tasting

DEC. 9—Amani International Coffeehouse & Café and the Heinz Endowments will host “An Evening of Coffee Tasting” from 5-9 p.m. at 507 Foreland Dr., North Side. There will be coffee, desserts, live music and a silent auction. The special guest will be Nick Eason of the Pittsburgh Steelers. Anniversary celebration

DEC. 9—The POISE Foundation will host its 30th Anniversary Celebration from 5-7:30 p.m. at the August Wilson Center, 980 Liberty Ave., Cultural District. The theme for the event is “Looking Back. Moving Forward.” There will be an anniversary salute, theater presentation and entertainment by RH Factor. Tickets are $50 per person and reservations are required. Holiday bazaar

DEC. 11—The Kelly-Strayhorn Theater Performing Arts Center will host the Kelly-Strayhorn Holiday Bazaar at 11 a.m. at 5941 Penn Ave., E. Liberty. This is a fundraiser and individuals will have an opportunity to shop homemade items by local artisans. Proceeds will benefit the Kelly-Strayhorn. For more information, call 412-363-3000.

Coat drive

DEC. 11—The East Hills Boy Scouts will host a Coat Giveaway at 1 p.m. at the Kingsley Association, 6435 Frankstown Ave., East Liberty. Coats will be given to needy children ages 4-12. Renewness

DEC. 11—Lanette Braxton will host the Renewness of Old Times Formal from 8 p.m.-2 a.m. at Larry’s Lounge, 1032 Walnut St., McKeesport. There will be a message from Rev. Timothy Caldwell Jr. regarding the violence that is plaguing our communities. There will also be a live performance by Michelle Dudley and line dancing by Roland Ford. Officer installation

DEC. 14—The Pittsburgh Branch NAACP will host the Installation of Officers for the 2011/2012 Year at 7 p.m. at Rodman Street Missionary Baptist Church, 6111 Rodman St., East Liberty. The elected officers will be M. Gayle Moss as president; Constance Parker as first vice president; Marcella Lee as second vice president; Johnnie Miott as third vice president; Imogene Hines as secretary; and Anna Hollis as treasurer. Promotion ceremony

DEC. 18—Gateway Medical Society will host “Journey to Medicine ‘Building the Pipeline for Future Physicians’” from 12-2 p.m. at the UPMC Bio Medical Science Tower, 200 Lothrop St., Oakland. This is a promotion ceremony for the first mentoring group of the program. Members of the medical society will take African-American males, grades 6-12, and mentor them. Registration is required. Kwanzaa celebration

DEC. 26—The Community Empowerment Association Inc. will host their Kwanzaa 2010 Celebration from 3-9 p.m. at Westinghouse High School, 1101 N. Murtland Ave., Homewood. There will be children’s activities, African dancing, drum ensembles, food, vendors and more. Guests are asked to bring a covered dish without pork and a gift for a child. Fundraiser

ONGOING—The Allegheny Valley Habitat for Humanity will host their 5th annual “Village of Hope” Fundraiser Raffle Ticket Sale at the Pittsburgh Mills Mall, Tarentum. From now until Jan. 15 individuals can purchase raffle tickets to win a cape cod playhouse. The proceeds from the ticket sales will go to the building of a house for a family in need.
