In the Spirit of King

WhatKingWouldDoMarch

WHAT KING WOULD DO—There were many celebrations of Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. on  Jan. 17. One such response was not a celebration but taking actions as King would have. In response to four fatal shootings of young people this fall, which included the son of a member of the Ministerial Association and last Saturday night’s shooting of a 16-year-old, some of the ministers and community members of Wilkinsburg marched for peace and justice as King did when he took to the streets in the 1960s. Reverend Richard Payne of the Wilkinsburg Church of the Nazarene headed the effort as he held a cross bearing the names of those who were lost to violence as he spoke to the participants.
