The Kelly Strayhorn Theater welcomes more than 50 artists to the stage this spring for exciting original dance works, music, poetry and much more. In its third year of original programming, the Kelly Strayhorn is proud to present nationally acclaimed artists slated to premiere new and innovative works.
The Kelly Strayhorn will showcase more music and dance with the third annual newMoves Dance Festival running May 12–15.
The Kelly Strayhorn continues its commitment to community programming with the FamilyTIME series that includes community celebrations such as East Liberty Celebrates MLK Day and artSEEDs, an ongoing student matinee series.
Despite challenging economic times, the Kelly Strayhorn Theater has maintained a strong commitment to supporting artists in the creation of new works, like the NEXT STAGE Residence—which provides housing for residents during the time they spend at the theater.
The spring season also offers an opportunity for artists to discuss relevant topics such as funding, marketing and touring through the continuing CenterStage workshop series.
“The season’s common thread is the diversity of the mix of local and national artists,” said Executive Director Janera Solomon, commenting on the Spring 2011 season.
