Youth Symposium
JUNE 16—Pittsburgh Psychoanalytic Center and the Manchester-Bidwell Corporation will host The Symposium on Reducing Youth Violence: Models for Success at Manchester-Bidwell Corporation, 1815 Metropolitan St., North Side. This two-day symposium is structured to develop and support a learning atmosphere and will include stimulating presentations by experts, panel discussions, and question and answer sessions. Town Hall Meeting
JUNE 17—Talk radio host Bev Smith will host a Town Hall Meeting from 7-10 p.m. at the August Wilson Center, 980 Liberty Ave., Cultural District. Juneteenth Celebration
JUNE 18—Sewickley Community Center will host a Juneteenth Celebration at 9 a.m. at 15 Chadwick St., Sewickley. The celebration will begin with the Daniel B. Matthews Historical Society Pancake Breakfast from 9 a.m.-12 p.m.; then a panel discussion at 10 a.m. on Education as a roadway to financial literacy or parallel pipeline to prison with Jonelle Henry as the moderator; and various indoor and outdoor activities. Basketball Clinic
JUNE 18—The Ozanam Basketball Program will host a Girls Basketball Clinic from 10:30-11:30 a.m. at West Penn Recreation Center, 470 30th St., Strip District. The girls clinic will be every Saturday from June 18-July 30. There will also be a Boys Basketball Clinic every Monday from 6-7 p.m. at Ammon from June 20-July 30. JUNE 18—The Pittsburgh AIDS Task Force’s (PATF) Girl Talk Project will host a Parent Education Event from 1-3 p.m. at the PATF, 5913 Penn Ave., East Liberty. This is an event to facilitate conversations between teenage girls, ages 13-18, and their parents or caregivers. The talk will focus on topics such as personal perspectives on sexuality and orientation, HIV and other STDs. JUNE 22—The Allegheny County Department of Human Services and Juvenile Justice will host a Public Discussion at 5 p.m. at DHS building, Liberty Conference Room Lower Level, One Smithfield St., Downtown.
