Even though Perry dominated City League boys basketball this season with a 15-1 interleague play, Allderdice, 12-4, and Carrick, 10-6, captured the most spots on this years’ All-City Basketball selection with four each.
Allderdice beat Perry for the City League championship, but the All-City selections were based on what these teams did during the regular season.

Following Allderdice and Carrick is Perry, Oliver and Westinghouse with three each; Schenley, Langley and Brashear had two each; and Peabody had one.
Justin Dobbs from Allderdice and Brandon Johnson from Schenley were the only two unanimous selections for the First Team, with Greg McGhee from Perry, Ben Mickens from Allderdice, Marcus Smith from Perry, and Dontae Forte from Peabody all locked in a very close battle for the three slots left on the First Team.
McGhee, Mickens and Smith won out with Forte dropping to the second team, joined by Arthur Smith, Schenley; Bruce Grover, Perry; Gary Herndon, Westinghouse; and Mike Talton, Carrick.
The Third Team was dominated by Allderdice and Oliver, with two players each. Cameron Bailey and Eric Mallinger from Allderdice; and Lamontae Harrison and Shaquille Hager from Oliver. Rasheed McKamey from Carrick finished out the team.
The voting for Most Valuable Player was extremely tight between Dobbs and Johnson, with Dobbs winning out. Ben ÂMickens also received votes, but no Perry player received any.
Even though Marco Corona from Perry received votes, Andre McDonald from Allderdice and Walt Malinski from Carrick actually received the most votes for Coach of the Year, with ÂMalinski winning out.
Coach Malinski did an incredible job this year with a team that usually finishes somewhere near the bottom of the league, but this year they were one of the top teams in the City finishing fourth with a 10-6 record.
The All-City Team is selected each year by the Courier staff and the City League coaches.
