Correspondent named to White House board

American Urban Radio Networks White House Correspondent April Ryan has been elected to the prestigious White House Correspondents Association Board. She will serve a three-year term on the nine member board.

The WHCA board represents the press in its dealings with the Administration on coverage related issues. April becomes the 3rd African-American to be elected to the board in its 97 year history. The second was Sonya Ross, who was a reporter with the Associated Press. Sheridan Broadcasting Network’s Bob Ellison was the first African-American elected to the board in in the late 80’s. He served as President of the board in 1990 and in doing so became the first African-American to serve as President of the WHCA board.
