MOON TOWNSHIP, Pa.—The University of Pittsburgh men’s soccer team dropped a 2-1 decision at Robert Morris University on Friday at North Athletic Complex. The contest was the season opener for both squads.
Sophomore transfer Nico Wrobel (Berlin, Germany) notched the Panthers’ lone score, a penalty kick goal in the 61st minute.

Pitt outshot RMU, 18-7, which included an 11-2 shots on goal advantage. The Panthers took 11 corners, seven in the second half.
The Panthers had several good looks in the first half, peppering RMU goalkeeper Toba Bolaji with 11 shots – seven of those on goal. In a pair that originated off a corner kick,
RMU pulled ahead, 2-0, in the 59th minute on a steal in the midfield that resulted in a goal from Prince Samuels.
Pitt answered two minutes later when Sophomore transfer Nico Wrobel (Berlin, Germany) converted the free strike, delivering a shot into the top shelf.
Pitt controlled the momentum in the final four minutes, but were still unable to register an equalizer. Defender Robert Iledare (Baton Rouge, La.) saw his attempt in the waning seconds stopped by Bolaji.
The Panthers fell to 32-21-5 all-time in season starters, including a 10-13 mark in road season openers. Pitt moves to 16-11-2 all-time versus Robert Morris.
Pitt is back in action on Monday, Aug. 29, traveling to St. Francis (PA). Game time is set for 4 p.m. in Loretto, Pa.
