SEPT. 22 —The Carnegie Library of Pittsburgh will host their Business Program Series at 12:15 at the Downtown & Business branch, 612 Smithfield St., Downtown. The topic is “Sell on eBay, Ship With the Postal Service.” Becky Palamides, business solutions specialist for the United States Postal Service, will discuss the benefits of using the Postal Service as a shipping partner and how to grow one’s business and lower shipping costs by taking advantage of the “Simpler Way to Ship” program. Second Step

SEPT. 23 —The University of Pittsburgh’s Small Business Development Center will host its “The Second Step: Developing a Business Plan” from 7:30-10 a.m. at Pitt’s Mervis Hall, Roberto Clemente Dr., Oakland. Attendees will learn about operational and production planning, conducting market research and creating financial spreadsheets to attract funding for one’s business. First step Success

SEPT. 27 —The Small Business Development Center of Saint Vincent College will host The First Step to Small Business Success from 9:30-11:30 a.m. at 300 Fraser Purchase Rd., Latrobe. This is an informal workshop that will provide an overview of starting a business. It’s designed to answer questions that entrepreneurs may have and to provide information and direction to anyone considering a business venture. Reservations are requested by Sept. 22. Workshop

Base Camp

OCT. 1—TiE Pittsburgh will host the Entrepreneurs Base Camp 2011-Entrepreneurs to the Rescue from 8 a.m.-5 p.m. at Carnegie Mellon University, 5000 Forbes Ave., Oakland. This all day event will include various workshops to help entrepreneurs generate ideas, strengthen one’s business plan and build a network that will bring success.
