Former broadcaster and program director for the original WAMO, Harold “HB” Brown, died Oct. 24, in Lakewood Ranch, Fla. He was 78.
Brown was a graduate of Westinghouse High School, class of 1952, and studied at Point Park College and the University of Pittsburgh.

Alan Lincoln, president of MAA & Associates, LLC, and former president of radio at Sheridan Broadcasting Network, said, “I am sorry to hear about the passing of Hal. He was a legend to the radio community in Pittsburgh and the media industry.” Lincoln added that Brown was dedicated to the media industry and because of it was always helping others to enter the field.
Along with his work in radio, Brown also worked as a Personnel Director at WTAE-TV.
He is survived by his wife of more than 50 years, Margaret Brown; his two daughters Angeline Brown, of Florida, and Jeanine Chait, of Georgia; four grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; a sister, Betty Marable; and a host of friends and family. He was proceded in death by his son, H. Guy Brown Jr.
It is unknown if a memorial service will be held in Pittsburgh at a later time.
