Brinker inducted into Michigan Construction Hall of Fame

DETROIT, Mich.—Larry S. Brinker Sr., chairman and chief executive officer, Brinker Group was recently inducted into the Michigan Construction Hall of Fame at Ferris State University. He also received the Distinguished Constructor Award for his significant achievements in the Michigan construction industry. Brinker has led the Detroit-based and Detroit-headquartered company for more than 20 years. The Brinker Group consists of five successful commercial contracting firms, including Brinker Team Construction (interior architectural solutions); L.S. Brinker (general contracting and construction manager services); Universal Glass & Metals (full-service glass and glazing); City Carpet & Flooring; and Edgewood Electric.

Ferris State University created the Michigan Construction Hall of Fame to recognize individuals who have left a significant mark on the construction industry and community because of their consistent service and achievement. The Michigan Construction Hall of Fame in its 10th year serves as an inspirational display of industry leaders, who challenge students, staff, visitors and construction professionals to strive for excellence.

Dr. David L. Eisler, president of Ferris State University, inducted Brinker at the Awards Banquet. Dr. Eisler expressed his esteem pleasure in welcoming Brinker, “I am thrilled to induct Larry Brinker into the Michigan Construction Hall of Fame. Although, we honor you today, you have honored us through your work,” said Eisler.

Brinker Group has a regional office in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. PPG Industries recently awarded the distinguished 2011 Crystal Achievement Award to Universal Glass & Metals, for its work on the Pittsburgh Penguins Consol Energy Arena. It was named the “most innovative energy efficient glass project” and became the first NHL arena to earn LEED Gold certification from the U.S. Green Building Council. Brinker Group is currently the general contractor of the Dr. K. Leroy Irvis Science Center at the Community College of Allegheny County.
