World AIDS

NOV. 30—Bonacile Enterprises and R.A.P.H.A. Programs, Rodman Street Missionary Baptist Church will host “Celebrate Life! Red Plate & East End World AIDS Day Kick-Off Event” from 5:30-8:30 p.m. at Tana Ethiopian Cuisine, 5929 Baum Blvd., East Liberty. Holiday Open House

DEC. 1—The McKeesport Heritage Center will host its Holiday Open House from 12-8 p.m. at 1832 Arboretum Dr., McKeesport. The museum will be decorated, along with Christmas trees on display. Open House

DEC. 3—Urban Pathways Charter School will host a K-12 Open House from 11 a.m.-2 p.m. at 914 Penn Ave., Downtown. Queen’s Luncheon

DEC. 3—The Harriet Tubman Guild Inc. will host its Queen’s Luncheon from 12-3 p.m. at Churchill Country Club, 800 Beulah Rd., Penn Hills. The Honorable Judge Kimberly Clark will be the mistress of ceremonies and entertainment will be provided by the Center of Life and  Mt. Ararat Dance Ensembles. There will also be a fashion show. Fashion Africana

DEC. 9—Fashion Africana and the Kelly-Strayhorn Theater will host Fashion Africana at 8 p.m. at 5941 Penn Ave., East Liberty. This is the 10th anniversary event celebrating women of the Diaspora. The event will feature Dwana A. Smallwood and Lois Samuels and include performances and a pre-show mixer at 7 p.m. There will also be a free indoor festival and holiday bazaar on Dec. 10 from 11 a.m.-5 p.m. Tickets are $25 in advance and $30 at the door. Holiday Tours

ONGOING—Allegheny County Parks Department and UPMC will host the Hartwood Acres Park Celebration of Lights from 6-10 p.m. at 200 Hartwood Acres, Pittsburgh. This is a park consisting of 629 acres of land, decorated with lights. The proceeds benefit project Bundle Up and other local charities. The cost is $12 per car and $3-$5 per person, per bus. Weather Shelters

ONGOING—The Allegheny County Department of Human Services Office of Community Services and Pittsburgh Mercy Health System’s Operation Safety Net will host its Severe Weather Emergency Shelter from 7 p.m.-7 a.m. at Smithfield United Church of Christ, 620 Smithfield St., Downtown. This is a safety shelter for people who are street homeless when the temperature drops below 25 degrees Fahrenheit. For more information, call 412-779-1329.

Clinic opening

ONGOING—The Allegheny County Health Department will host its Influenza Vaccination Clinic at 3441 Forbes Ave., Oakland. The clinic will offer flu vaccines, while supplies last, Mondays through Fridays. Appointments are not needed. Fore more information, visit www.www.achd.net.
