Kwanzaa Celebration

Kente Arts Alliance, UJAMAA Collective and the Hill House Association present a Kwanzaa Celebration from 7-10 p.m. at the Hill House Kaufman Center, 1825 Centre Ave., Hill District. The guest speaker is Dr. Maulana Karenga, creator of Kwanzaa and the Nguzo Saba. The theme for his address will be “Kwanzaa and the Seven Principles: Sustaining & Sharing the World.” There will also be a children’s program at 3 p.m. This event is free and open to the public. The Pittsburgh Cultural Trust and PNC Broadway Across America-Pittsburgh presents MEMPHIS the Musical at 7:30 p.m. at Heinz Hall, 600 Penn Ave., Cultural District. This 2010 Tony Award Winner for Best Musical takes place in the clubs of the segregated 50s, where a White DJ named Huey Calhoun falls in love with a Black singer. Harris Exhibition

The Carnegie Museum of Art presents “Teenie Harris, Photographer: An American Story” at the museum’s Heinz Galleries, 4400 Forbes Ave., Oakland. This is an exhibit about famous photographer Charles “Teenie” Harris and features thousands of his classic and historic photos.
