The topic is “Build Your Business Using ‘Every Door Direct Mail’ an Exciting Shipping Solution from the US Postal Service.” Michelle Dugas, business development specialist for the US Postal Service, will discuss an efficient way to promote services by getting marketing messages directly to customers while reducing mail preparation costs. JAN. 20—Duquesne University’s Small Business Development Center will host its First Step: Business Start-Up Essentials seminar from 9:30 a.m.-12:30 p.m. at 108 Rockwell Hall, 600 Forbes Ave., Uptown. JAN. 21—SCORE Pittsburgh will host its Small Business Basics Workshop from 8:30 a.m.-1 p.m. at the PNC-YMCA, 2nd floor, 226 Fifth Ave., Downtown. Topics that will be covered include business plan development, record keeping, taxes, financing, marketing and legal aspects. Campaign Training
JAN. 21—The Pennsylvania Center for Women and Politics at Chatham University will host its Ready o Run Campaign Training for Women at Chatham University’s Mellon Hall, Woodland Rd., Oakland. This is a bi-partisan program for women who want to run for office, seek higher office, work on a campaign, get appointed to office or learn more about the political system. There will be training sessions and networking opportunities. Registration is required and if done before Dec. 15 the cost is $50 and if done after, the cost is $65. JAN. 25—U.S. Small Business Administration will host its Federal Contracting workshop from 9 a.m.-12 p.m. at Riverside Center for Innovation, 700 River Ave., North Side.
