Gammage Docudrama

Pitt Repertory Theater presents The Gammage Project at 8 p.m. at the Henry Heymann Theatre, Pitt’s Stephen Foster Memorial, Forbes Ave., Oakland. The play is based on actual events from the 1995 death of Jonny Gammage, who died at the scene during a traffic stop by Brentwood Police. The cause of death is listed as asphyxiation caused by pressure applied to the chest and neck. The play will run today and March 4. Following the performance, Attilio Favorini or a guest will moderate talkback sessions between the audience, one or two of the cast members, and individuals who have a connection to the Gammage case. New First Fridays

Champion Enterprises presents the New First Fridays from 8 p.m.-2 a.m. at the Club Health & Fitness Center, One Racquet Lane, Monroeville. There will be line dancing, an old school party and DJ MeanGee, the Old School DJ, providing the hits. This is a 30 years and older event and the cost is $10. Jazz Party

MCG Jazz presents “Once in a Lifetime: The Jazz Party” at 6:30 p.m. at the Manchester Craftsmen’s Guild, 1815 Metropolitan St., Manchester. This is part of the MCG’s 25th Anniversary Celebration and will feature performances from FIVE PLAY, Marlena Shaw and other Jazz Legends. There will be a mix and mingle with the legends, cocktails and a sneak peek at the Smithsonian Jazz oral histories featuring the Pittsburgh legends. Tickets are $100. ‘Woke Up Black’

The Women & Girls Foundation and the Urban League of Greater Pittsburgh present Filmmaker and Activist Mary Morten and her documentary “Woke Up Black” at 4 p.m. at the Kelly Strayhorn Theater, 5941 Penn Ave., East Liberty. This is part of the New Voices Pittsburgh Women of Color HERStory Month 2012 and International Women’s Day Celebration. “Woke Up Black” focuses on five Black youth, along with their struggles and triumphs into adulthood.
