Singer, author, actress and televangelist Juanita Bynum plans on taking Pittsburghers through her journey from agony back to the presence of God when she takes the stage at Soldiers and Sailors Memorial Hall April 1.
“So many times you go through things in life and not often enough do we allow ourselves to be candid enough to show people the process it took to get to the place where they wanted to get to. I want to show that God is the route you take. Everything is based in worship and everything in life is spiritually wrapped in a shell called flesh. Once we can stand up in the presence of the Lord, all the answers will come from that. We have to prepare people for that.” said Bynum.

In addition to Bynum, the concert will feature local gospel musicians Ministree, Deborah Moncrief and Nikki Smith. The event, which is being presented by Starr Status Entertainment, is being hosted by the Soul Pitt’s Terina Hicks.
Bynum promises a dramatic concert filled with song, worship, praise and yes, dance—she has been taking modern ballet since last year and will showcase some of her moves. She will be bringing the Word of God and singing selections from her current CD, “Diary of Juanita Bynum II,” which was released on Matthew Knowles’ music label World Gospel in February. It is the first piece of trilogy work. The second piece, “The New Reloaded Diary of Juanita Bynum” will be released this spring and the final yet-to-be named installment is set to drop on Black Friday.
Bynum got her start in ministry in local churches in her hometown of Chicago after graduating from high school. In 1996 she caught the attention of Bishop T.D. Jakes who invited her to attend one of his singles conferences. Within two years of attending, she had moved from attendee to speaker.
That led to regular appearances and speaking engagements on the Trinity Broadcasting Network. She has released numerous albums including “Morning Glory” (1999); “Morning Glory II: Behind the Veil” (2000); “A Piece of My Passion (2005); “Christmas at Home with Juanita” (2006); “Pour My Love On You,” (2008) and “The Diary of Juanita Bynum” (2010).
In addition to her musical triumphs, She is also an accomplished author. Some of her books are: “My Spiritual Inheritance: Walking In Your Destiny,” “40 Days to Starting Over: “No More Sheets Challenge,” “No More Sheets: Starting Over,” and “The Threshing Floor: How to Know Without a Doubt that God Hears Your Every Prayer.”
“The Threshing Floor was a growing and evolving production idea that I got back in 2004-2005,” she explained. “I started studying the tabernacle and I saw how it was and how God required they use the best cloth and wear their best clothes during worship. So in 2006 I did a threshing floor conference. I wanted people to feel like they were in the presence of God.”
Following her concert tour, Bynam will be holding a life coach summer retreat June 28-30 to teach women how to thrive in ministry.
“After being in ministry for 33 years, I know what it takes to establish a ministry. I wasn’t under anyone’s tutelage with my ministry. The Word of God gave it all to me. I want to teach them how to build successful ministries because I believe women want to have their own successful ministries,” she said.
When she isn’t touring or preaching, teaching or writing, Bynum enjoys perusing antique shops.
