Strength in the Struggle

The August Wilson Center For African American Culture presents the “Strength in the Struggle: Civil Rights” Exhibition at 980 Liberty Ave., Cultural District. This is a presentation in collaboration with The African American Museum in Philadelphia and the In Sisterhood: The Women’s Movement in Pittsburgh oral history project, and features text, photography, memorabilia and film. Closing Exhibit

The National Association of Women Artists Inc. presents “From A Different Point of View” exhibition from 8 a.m.-6 p.m. at Point Park University, Lawrence Hall Gallery, 201 Wood St., Downtown. Resonance and Celeta Hickman

The Gateway to the Arts, the Hill House Association and the Kelly Strayhorn presents “Get Rhythm! A family performance: Resonance with Celeta Hickman” from 1-2:30 p.m. at the Hill House Kaufman Center, Elsie H. Hillman Auditorium, 1825 Centre Ave., Hill District. This Caribbean jazz ensemble and Resonance and Celeta Hickman will come together in a musical and cultural journey to the island of Trinidad. This lively performance will tell the story of the steel drum. After, Hickman will lead a demonstration of making rhythm instruments. The cost is $5.
