Leadership Summit
JUNE 14—The Pittsburgh African American Leadership Association will host the 4th Annual African American Leadership Summit from 9 a.m.-6 p.m. at the Holiday Inn, 100 Lytton Ave., Oakland. The theme for the two-day summit is “Mission Possible with Leadership.” The keynote speaker will be Jacquie Hood Martin, a nationally recognized author and wife of CNN contributor, Roland Martin. Public Hearing
JUNE 14—The Advisory Council of the Allegheny County Department of Human Services, Area Agency on Aging will host a Public Hearing on the Future Budget Plan at 10 a.m. at the Allegheny County Courthouse, 436 Grant St., Downtown. This hearing is to solicit public comment on the 2012-2013 Area Plan and Budget Prospectus, and on the AAA Four Year Plan for Fiscal Years 2012-2016. Men of Impact
Symposium
JUNE 15—BCC Ministries will host a Men of Impact Symposium at 7 p.m. at 1400 Boyle St., North Side. This three-day symposium will tackle issues faced by African-American makes and to encourage, empower and educate young males. There will be a concert; workshops covering topics such as finances, family relationships, youth violence prevention and more; and a special father/Men’s Day banquet at Allen Place Community Services. Plant the Seed
JUNE 16—Queen Esther Chapter No. 6 of the Order of Eastern Star will host “Plant the Seed to Believe: ’Dreams Do Come True’” from 12-4 p.m. at the Prince Hall Temple, 1117 Wood St., Wilkinsburg. This informational forum brings in professional women to speak to African-American girls ages 10-14 to empower and encourage them to overcome their personal obstacles and hold fast to their dreams for successful future.
