Day of Black Male Solidarity

JUNE 23—The Brother to Brother Leadership Forum will host its Day of Black Male Solidarity from 10 a.m.-4 p.m. at the Arts, Culture & Training Institute, 7120 Kelly St., Homewood. The theme is “Unification of Purpose for Direct Action.” The special guest speaker will be Wade Nobles. There will be workshops on criminal justice, economic justice and general topics, such as raising boys to men, underperforming schools and more. Kamp Kuumba

JUNE 25—The Community Empowerment Association and the August Wilson Center for African American Culture will host Kamp Kuumba from 8:30 a.m.-4:30 p.m. at the Arts, Culture & Training Institute, 7120 Kelly St., Homewood. This is a six week camp for ages 6-17 years old that offers dance, visual arts, animation, photography, digital arts and theatre. Reservations are required. Helping Hands

JUNE 26—The Young Men & Women’s African Heritage Association Inc. will host the “Helping Hands” Fundraising Gala from 6-9 p.m. at the Pittsburgh National Aviary, 700 Arch St., North Side. The gala is to benefit and celebrate the activities of the Nia Cultural Arts & Education Programs and salute the accomplishments of co-founder and past executive director Janice Parks. Community Health Fair

JUNE 29—East Liberty Presbyterian Church and The Pittsburgh AIDS Task Force will host its Third Annual East End Community Health Fair from 11 a.m.-3 p.m. at Penn Avenue and South Whitfield Street, East Liberty. The fair is to promote health awareness and HIV testing. There will also be games, music, free HIV testing, health screening and more. Community Day Fair

Health Forum

JUNE 30—The Gateway Medical Society and Alpha Kappa Alpha Society Inc. Alpha Alpha Omega Chapter will host its “Gateway to Wellness: Our Healthy Journey” Health Forum from 8 a.m.-2 p.m. at the Herberman Conference Center, 5150 Centre Ave., Oakland. The fair is to provide the African-American community with information and resources to help them be healthy. Community Festival

JUNE 30—The Legacy Arts Project will host the Schenley Heights Community Festival from 12-4 p.m. at the Robert E. Williams Memorial Park, Milwaukee and Adelaide Streets, Schenley Heights.
