Art in the Park

The Borough of Wilkinsburg and the Wilkinsburg Community Development Corporation presents Wilkinsburg’s 2012 Art in the Park from 6-8:30 p.m. at the Penn Avenue Parklet, 743 Penn Ave., Wilkinsburg, Every Thursday there will be food, music vendors and fun for the whole family. There will also be live entertainment.

Jazz Jam

CJ’s Restaurant & Lounge presents “The Roger Humphries & RH Factor Jazz Jam Session” at 8 p.m. at 2901-2911 Penn Ave., Strip District. There will be live jazz and fun every Thursday night. There will also be a Jazz Jam Session from 5:30-8 p.m. on June 16. Must be 30-years or older and there is a dress code that will be enforced. No tennis shoes, sweats, or athletic gear. Summer Music Series

Sweetwater Center for the Arts presents its Summer Music Series from 6-8 p.m. at the Gazebo at Wolcott Park, Broad St., Sewickley. Every Friday night in June, patrons can enjoy warm weather, shopping, food and live music by some of the area’s brightest musicians. This week’s performer will be the Guaracha Latin Dance Band, featuring their style of original salsa, merengue, cambia, reggeton and other Tropical dance music. The August Wilson Center presents the “Strength in the Struggle: Civil Rights” Exhibition at 980 Liberty Ave., Cultural District. This is a presentation in collaboration with The African American Museum in Philadelphia and the In Sisterhood: The Women’s Movement in Pittsburgh oral history project, and features text, photography, memorabilia and film. Glow for Cancer

The Children’s Hospital Pediatric Oncology Program presents Glow for Cancer at 6 p.m. at the Hill House Kaufman Center, 1825 Centre Ave., Hill District. The featured guest will be hip-hop artist Issa Thompson, along with Goombanation, Fatal Atraption and more. This is a family event for all ages.
