Art in the Park
The Borough of Wilkinsburg and the Wilkinsburg Community Development Corporation presents Wilkinsburg’s 2012 Art in the Park from 6-8:30 p.m. at the Penn Avenue Parklet, 743 Penn Ave., Wilkinsburg, Every Thursday there will be food, music vendors and fun for the whole family. There will also be live entertainment.
Jazz Jam
CJ’s Restaurant & Lounge presents “The Roger Humphries & RH Factor Jazz Jam Session” at 8 p.m. at 2901-2911 Penn Ave., Strip District. There will be live jazz and fun every Thursday night. Cinderella Story
The Kelly Strayhorn Theater presents “’Mama’ Kadiatou Conte-Forte: Kindi (The Orphan)-A Cinderella Story” at 11 a.m. at 5941 Penn Ave., East Liberty. This is set in a traditional Guinean village; Conte-Forte weaves the Cinderella-Like fairytale of a young woman who is forbidden to dance and pursue the man she loves by her jealous stepmother and stepsisters. The rich percussive rhythms set the tone for a powerful ensemble of more than 15 dancers and drummers.
