Art in the Park

The Borough of Wilkinsburg and the Wilkinsburg Community Development Corporation presents Wilkinsburg’s 2012 Art in the Park from 6-8:30 p.m. at the Penn Avenue Parklet, 743 Penn Ave., Wilkinsburg, Every Thursday there will be food, music vendors and fun for the whole family. There will also be live entertainment.

Jazz Jam

CJ’s Restaurant & Lounge presents “The Roger Humphries & RH Factor Jazz Jam Session” at 8 p.m. at 2901-2911 Penn Ave., Strip District. There will be live jazz and fun every Thursday night. There will also be a Jazz Jam Session from 5:30-8 p.m. on June 16. Must be 30-years or older and there is a dress code that will be enforced. No tennis shoes, sweats, or athletic gear. White Party

Champion Enterprise, Soul Pitt, the Pittsburgh Corvette Club and Five presents its 5th Annual White Party-4th of July Weekend Celebration from 8 p.m.-1 a.m. at 3 Lakes Golf Club, 6700 Saltsburg Rd., Penn Hills. Summer Youth Intensive

The Afro American Music Institute presents its 2012 Summer Youth Intensive from 9 a.m.-3 p.m. at 7131 Hamilton Ave., Homewood. This is a two-week event, which will end July 20, is for youth 8-12 years old. There will be several music, vocal and dance courses, plus more. Cinderella Story

The Kelly Strayhorn Theater presents “’Mama’ Kadiatou Conte-Forte: Kindi (The Orphan)-A Cinderella Story” at 11 a.m. at 5941 Penn Ave., East Liberty. This is set in a traditional Guinean village; Conte-Forte weaves the Cinderella-Like fairytale of a young woman who is forbidden to dance and pursue the man she loves by her jealous stepmother and stepsisters. The rich percussive rhythms set the tone for a powerful ensemble of more than 15 dancers and drummers.
