Basketball League
JULY 9—Champion Enterprises will host the 37th Annual Connie Hawkins Basketball League from 6-8:30 p.m. at the Penn Hills YMCA, 11817 Frankstown Rd., Penn Hills. Every Monday and Tuesday through Aug. 7, middle school aged boys 14 and younger will have the opportunity to compete against each other and sharpen their skills. Registration is requested. Free Swimming Lessons
JULY 10—The Allegheny County Parks Department will host free Swimming Lessons from 10-10:45 a.m. at Boyce, North, Settlers Cabin and South Parks. Tuesdays and Thursdays in July, qualified instructors will be on hand to give swimming lessons to kids ages 5 and up. Children with last names beginning with A through K will meet July 10, 17 and 24. Town Hall Meeting
JULY 12—The New Deal Coalition for Economic Party and Justice will host a Town Hall Meeting on the Addison Terrace Development from 6-8 p.m. at the Elise Hillman Auditorium, 1825 Centre Ave., Hill District. This is an opportunity for residents to come out and hear how economic and community government funds are being used for housing, employment and business opportunities in the Hill District and City of Pittsburgh. Fashion Showcase

Summer Institute
JULY 18—The University of Pittsburgh’s Center on Race and Social Problems will host its Summer Institute from 1:30-4:30 p.m. at the Cathedral of Learning, 20th floor, 4200 Fifth Ave., Oakland. This is one of four institutes that will address racial disparities within a different context and examine the problems, causes and specific actions that can improve the situation. The topics are “Programs to Diminish Racial Disparities in Diabetes” and “Promising Practices for Decreasing Adult Health Disparities.” The guest speakers will be Miriam Seidel and Rhonda Moore Johnson. JULY 25—The Jakim Donaldson PROMISE organization will host a Basketball Camp from 9 a.m.-3 p.m. at Perry High School, 3875 Perrysville Ave., North Side. SummerFood Program
ONGOING—The Allegheny County Department of Human Services will host their SummerFood Program at more than 100 sites through Allegheny County. From now through Aug. 17, the program will offer free breakfast, lunch and recreational programs to children up to 18 years old, as well as eligible individuals with intellectual or physical disabilities 19 year or older. Farmers’ Markets
ONGOING—Citiparks will host its Community Farmers’ Market from 3:30-7:30 p.m. at five locations around the City of Pittsburgh. Monday through Friday, for the next five months, markets will be located in East Liberty, South Side, Carrick, Bloomfield, Beechview, Downtown and the North Side.
