Diversity, Leadership Conference
SEPT. 13—The National Diversity Council will host its 3rd Annual Diversity and Leadership Conference 2012 from 8:30 a.m.-4 p.m. at Duquesne University, 600 Forbes Ave., Uptown. The theme is “From Awareness to Action.” The conference is to give participants an opportunity to share the tools necessary to build a diverse talent pool that can accomplish organizational goals. SEPT. 14—Chatham University Center for Women Excellence will host its Women Business Leaders Breakfast Series from 7:30-9:30 a.m. at the James Laughlin Music Hall, Woodland Rd., Shadyside. Susan Catalano, of Cognition Therapeutics Inc., will speak on the topic “Finding and Funding a Cure for Alzheimer’s: How One Woman Scientist Became an Entrepreneur.” She will discuss her journey from scientist to entrepreneur and outline some of the cutting edge science being done by Cognition Therapeutics in Pittsburgh to discover drugs to halt or reverse the underlying pathological changes in the brain that cause Alzheimer’s disease.
