African Film Festival

SembÉne: The Film & Art Festival presents its African Film Festival at 6:30 p.m. at Ava Lounge, 126 N. Highland Ave., East Liberty. The festival will include a diverse selection of stunning, award-winning controversial films from a variety of genres. The featured film will be Mahamat-Saleh Haroun’s “Un Homme Qui Crie (A Screaming Man).” This was the winner of the 2010 Cannes Film Festival’s Jury Prize. Soul Jam

Savoy Restaurant presents the Thanksgiving Weekend Soul Jam at 8 p.m. at Soldiers & Sailors Memorial Hall, 4141 Fifth Ave., Oakland.
